Creating an Organization Unit

This topic describes the procedure to create an organization unit.

Before you begin this task:

An Organization Model comprises Organization Units such as departments (permanent units) or project teams (temporary units), the human resources and their roles, as well as the specific relationships the resources hold amongst themselves, expressed in the form of organization hierarchy.

  1. Select a starting point and select (Organization Unit) to create an organization unit. The Untitled Organization Unit- Organization Unit dialog appears with a view of the General tab. Note: You may start configuring the organization unit and save it later or save it first and then configure it.
  2. In the General tab view, enter required information in the Name and Description fields and click associated with the Unit Type field to select an organization unit type. The Select Unit Type for Unit list appears displaying available organization unit types.
  3. Select required <organization unit type> from the list. You may also Add Document or Add Runtime Reference from the window.
  4. Click the Color Picker icon. The Color Picker - Color Overview appears.
  5. Do any one of the following:
    • Select a color from the available list
    • Click No Color
    • Click Custom Color and select the RGB (Red, Green, Blue primary colors), click Add and select the newly added color from the Color Picker - Color Overview. The selected color is added to your organization unit.
  6. Click the Roles tab and click . The Select role for OrgUnit dialog appears.
  7. Select required role from the list view. The selected role appears in the table view of Roles tab. Note: If you want the selected role to be a lead role, select the Lead checkbox. If the role is not a lead role and there are linked users associated with the role, then the Assignment tab automatically displays the link to the Linked OpenText Process Suite Platform Users.
  8. Click the Annotation tab to add any additional information.
  9. Click .
    An organization unit is created and added to your project content tree.
